Course for Volunteers of International Cooperation

The goal of the course is to create educational itineraries focused on international cooperation. These itineraries aim at raising awareness among young people about the themes of international cooperation and boosting the growth of the different charities located in Modena which operate through projects of development and solidarity.

This experience is thus useful for university purposes.

The course takes place in the headquarters of the Overseas NGO in Spilamberto (Modena) and the participants meet once per month, for a total of 10 weekends beginning on Saturday morning and finishing on Sunday evening.

Each training module is focused on significant topics related to sustainable development and international cooperation, such as the history of cooperation and its legal aspects, criticism to the development, development economics (e.g. co-development), ethical finance, social mediation of conflicts and the life cycle of the project, the anthropological vision of meeting by creating new ideas and solidarity scenarios among people, communities and countries.

There are also seminars about, political and sociological issues.

One of the goals of the course is to promote the volunteering experiences in Italy as well as abroad. For this reason, the charities located in Modena and committed to international cooperation take part in the course by stating their mission, the projects they undertake and the main issues they deal with. The internship with one of the charities of City of Modena in order to understand at first hand what cooperation means, its potential and outcomes.
