Waste Management in Vejle

Vejle Kommune

In 2019 Waste and Recycling in Vejle celebrated 30 years of sorting organic waste. Vejle was a frontrunner when it comes to thinking of waste as a resource and as early as 1989 The Municipality of Vejle decided to sort organic waste separately. Today the Renovation Trucks run on biofuel made from the organic waste that is collected.

But sorting waste has always made sense for the citizens of Vejle. Therefore further sorting of other fractions, including plastic/metal was introduced in 2016. In the City of Vejle people have been sorting for many years. This is also the future we are looking into. A future, where waste to a much greater extent must be seen as a resource. Investments are therefor also being made in new facilities. As part of this several of the smaller recycling sites are being optimized, and in 2022 a new large resource center will be completed as an important effort in relation to the transition to a circular economy.
